The 2nd Annual VIFF, entitled, “Second Edition: ‘Beyond Boundaries;” will be taking place from April 7-10 and April 14-17 at various California locations including the opening day at the Regal Cinemas Garden Grove 16 and at UCLA. The festival will showcase 37 short and long films from across the globe. The festival was created by Vietnamese American Arts & Letters Association (VAALA) and Vietnamese Language & Culture (VNLC), both organizations that aim to promote awareness and opportunities for the Vietnamese community.
The festival itinerary is organized according to different sets including “Hung Vuong the Eighteenth (Thoi Hung Vuong 18)”, “Movements In Waves”, “Citizen of Nowhere”, “Spirits (Oan Hon)”, “Lovas and Hatas”, and “Return to Self.” The films vary in length from very short films of 3 minutes to longer films of 105 minutes. The venues vary and there are themed days including ViFF Day at UCLA, Senior Citizen Day, and A Tribute to Trinh T. Minh-Ha.
Attendants will also be able to meet and socialize with other attendants, artists, and speakers at events such as: Opening Gala at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Garden Grove), a Meet the Artists Reception on the second night, after-parties at various Orange County locations, Q & A sessions, and a Closing Night Gala at the Cross Cultural Center at UCI.
