Let’s Talk About Weather

From Current Issue | by Ann Ngo, Ann Ngo

Florida and Vietnam’s weather. As Chandler Bing would put it: "Can they BE anymore similar?"

When I imagine myself in Vietnam, I imagine the sun’s heat beating down...no, not beating down, beating UP my skin while the humidity suffocates me and melts the make-up right off my face. In addition, I just got out of the shower, but I need to turn right back around for another. And then as if I wasn’t moist enough, raindrops begin to mess up my hair.

When I imagine myself in Florida...*back up and re-read the last 63 words I just wrote.*

Yes, I am a Southern California girl. Born and raised, spoiled rotten by the “you can surf, snowboard and get a tan in the same day” weather.

I can hop in my car and catch the morning waves in the a.m. then hop in my car and drive an hour and half and night board until 10 p.m. I have yet to experience that, but it is something I will do before I die.

I love waking up in the morning and being blinded by the bright, warm sun beating down upon my face. I love having to grab a coat every time I leave my home because I don’t know what to expect. Even though it’s cold in the morning, I know it can drastically drop twenty degrees in the evening.

I love having to worry about looking good in a swimsuit nearly all year long because I can hop in the pool nearly all year long.

I love Southern California, I hope you do too.
